Rooftop PV Plant for the Irpin Central Hospital
Categories: Сompleted projects
Implementation date: 2023 RePower Ukraine Charitable Foundation initiated a PV plant installation project for the Infectious Disease Department of Irpin Central Hospital as part of our program to provide photovoltaic systems for hospitals across Ukraine. We acted as a technical consulting partner, offering comprehensive support throughout the project implementation, including design and installation works.
Overview:
- Located just 27 km away from Kyiv, Irpin Central Hospital serves as a crucial healthcare facility for the region.
- With a total population of 75,913 people, including 52,799 residing in Irpin, the hospital provides essential medical care with 310 in-patient beds in the main clinic, 40 beds in the Children’s City Hospital, and 85 beds in the Maternity Hospital.
- The institution persevered during the occupation, with the medical staff tirelessly providing essential medical care, assisting in childbirth, and covertly sheltering Ukrainian defenders from enemy soldiers.
Challenge:
- Due to ongoing shelling attacks on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine and subsequent blackouts, the hospital had to prioritize ensuring a stable energy supply for critical departments in order to mitigate the risks of power disruptions.
- A stable and reliable energy supply is critical for the hospital to operate smoothly and deliver uninterrupted healthcare services.
Solution:
- The RePower Ukraine Foundation took the initiative of installation the rooftop PV plant for the hospital and supported it throughout the entire process.
- Our foundation provided comprehensive technical consulting services to ensure the seamless setup of the PV plant. We offered advice on various aspects, including the design, installation process, and ongoing operation of the plant.
Rooftop PV Plant Details:
- Designed for self-consumption with a capacity of 25 kW.
- Equipped with 8 storage batteries, each with a capacity of 5 kWh, resulting in a total storage capacity of 40 kWh.
- Over the first three days of operation, the Infectious Disease Department has not consumed any electricity from the grid, achieving energy independence and resilience.
Gratitude:
- Our foundation extends profound gratitude to the Croatian government for their generous funding, which was instrumental in making the PV plant project a reality.
