As the Technical Director at Energy Saving Specialist Ltd, he fully dedicates himself to advancing renewable energy technology, fine-tuning solar systems, and implementing strategies that lead us towards a greener, more sustainable, and economically responsible future

Jonathan Bates
Ambassador of the RePower Ukraine Foundation in the United Kingdom

Jonathan has worked in the solar PV industry since 1994. In 2006 he co-founded Photon Energy, one of the UK’s leading independent installers of solar PV and battery storage systems. Jonathan is currently serving his fourth, 3-year term as an elected member of the board of Solar Energy UK and chairs SEUK’s Rooftop Forum. He has been a member of the UK’s Micro-generation Certification Scheme’s (MCS) PV Working Group since the scheme’s inception in 2007. Since hearing about the work of Repower Ukraine in 2024, he has become one of the charity’s UK Ambassadors and is committed to the work of the charity, working to raise funds and equipment to further their very important work providing solar PV systems to hospitals and other institutions across the country.

Kirsty Berry
Ambassador of the RePower Ukraine Foundation in the United Kingdom

Kirsty is an experienced project and team leader with 25 years of experience in renewable energy. She has led many landmark solar energy projects in the UK, including co-located solar and energy storage at The Wave (inland surf park), the solar carport and EV charging site at the Metrocentre shopping mall in Gateshead, and Blackfriars Bridge in London. Currently, she’s working with innovative energy storage company RheEnergise to deliver their first commercial-scale demonstration project. She holds a degree in Electronic Engineering and a master’s in Renewable Energy Systems Technology. She became deeply involved in the foundation’s efforts to support Ukrainian communities by providing PV and storage systems for hospitals and other critical facilities. She plays a significant role in fundraising campaigns and involves new partners in the foundation’s projects.

Peter Raftery
Ambassador of the RePower Ukraine Foundation in the United Kingdom

Peter has worked for 33 years in the renewable power sector, most recently as a Managing Director of BlackRock Climate Infrastructure. Other roles have included General Manager of Offshore Wind for SSE, Head of Engineering for Airtricity and Director of Garrad Hassan (now DNV). He is extremely proud to be associated with Repower Ukraine given the undeniable urgency and positive difference that the charity is delivering. He has been raising funds for Repower UA and linking the team with his network of experienced renewable energy and finance professionals.

Seb Berry
Ambassador of the RePower Ukraine Foundation in the United Kingdom

Seb Berry has nearly 40 years of experience in pr and public affairs. He was head of public affairs for Solarcentury from 2001-2018 and is a former speechwriter to two Secretary-Generals of the United Nations. Seb is a former Vice-chair of Solar Energy UK, and a former Vice-president of Solar Power Europe. He led the UK solar industry’s successful campaign for the feed-in tariff. In 2022, he was given the Lifetime Achievement award at Solar and Storage Live. He has a PhD in politics from Birkbeck college, University of London.
