Olexander Kharchenko, EIRCenter Managing Director, warns that russia could be preparing to launch a fresh wave of missile attacks on the Ukrainian energy grid. Kharchenko believes that russia may stockpile missiles over the summer months in anticipation of the bombardment of Ukraine’s energy system during the heating season, repeating last year’s devastating attacks.

russia has already caused significant damage to Ukraine’s energy system, with almost half of the high-voltage grid and over half of the thermal generation facilities destroyed. The restoration efforts will take years and cost billions of dollars. And with the ongoing war, the threat of massive shelling attacks is putting the country at risk of another blackout.

Unfortunately, as Kharchenko warns, there is a high probability of power outages again – “Let’s face the truth: we cannot predict what will happen. I will not give details, but there are scenarios in which, I understand, it will be very difficult for us.”

It is imperative to act quickly to reduce the likelihood of future energy crises. One of the effective measures is to ensure the autonomous operation of vital facilities in Ukraine, such as hospitals.

Our RePower Ukraine Charitable Foundation provides Ukrainian hospitals with necessary backup power equipment and autonomous energy supply systems based on solar generation.

Join us in helping Ukraine deal with any power outages that may occur. With a few months to prepare for new challenges, we can increase the energy security of the country’s critical infrastructure.

Let’s focus on finding solutions to reduce the risks to the Ukrainian healthcare system in these difficult times.
