The project “Renewables for Resilient Ukraine” aims to support Ukrainian communities in implementing decentralized renewable energy systems (RES) to create a sustainable and eco-friendly future. It becomes an example of how local initiatives can have a significant impact on the ecology and economy of Ukraine, establishing a positive precedent for other communities.
Collaboration with local communities has been the foundation of our project. We have prioritized extensive engagement with local authorities and community representatives, introducing them to innovative and sustainable solutions for municipal facilities. We value their input and consider it essential to the project’s success.
During local council sessions, project outcomes and an informational brochure developed by the “RePower Ukraine” team were presented to council members. The deputies were provided with comprehensive information about the project’s goals, impact, and results, ensuring they were fully informed and actively involved in the process.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
- Implementing RES projects in 16 communities to demonstrate the efficiency of these systems.
- Raising public awareness about the economic and environmental benefits of these power systems and promoting their scaling.
- Increasing the capacity of local authorities to implement RES projects
POSITIVE IMPACT OF THE PROJECT:
- Power security improvement: Thanks to the installation of decentralized renewable power systems for 16 municipal facilities, it was possible to increase their resilience against emergency central power outages.
- Expert leadership in the sustainable development field: RES experts provided comprehensive support to communities at every project stage, from the technical and economic feasibility study to the SPP commissioning. This allowed communities to gain valuable experience and knowledge for further implementation of sustainable power solutions and development of renewable energy sector.
- Increasing investment attractiveness: The successful project implementation increases the trust of international investors in communities. This increases additional funding opportunities for future environmental initiatives.
- Economic and environmental advantages: RES implementation allows communities to save on electricity costs and significantly reduces the negative environmental impact.
