Our new project to install a solar power station on the roof of the Mena City Hospital has been finished in the city of Mena, Koriukivka district, Chernihiv region. This initiative aims to ensure stable energy supply for the medical facility and contribute to the ecological development of the region.

About the Hospital:
Mena City Hospital is part of the hospital district of Chernihiv region. The facility provides inpatient care to 3,500 – 4,000 patients annually, underlining its importance to the local community.
Technical Specifications of the Solar Power Station:
The new hybrid solar power station will have the following parameters:
– Solar panel capacity: 40.6 kW
– Inverter capacity: 30 kW
– Battery capacity: 30.72 kWh
This configuration will allow the hospital not only to meet its own electricity needs but also to have a reserve in case of central grid outages.
Project Benefits:
The installation of the solar power station will have several positive outcomes:
1. Ensuring energy independence for the hospital
2. Saving costs on utility bills
3. Positive environmental impact through the use of renewable energy
It’s particularly important that the solar power system will provide energy to two critical buildings housing the stroke and intensive care units, as well as the operating unit.

Hospital Director Hryhoriy Raznovan emphasizes the importance of the project: “Our own source of electricity will allow us to improve the quality of medical services and guarantee uninterrupted operation of vital systems and equipment.”
Yuriy Stalnychenko, Secretary of Mena City Council, acting Head of community highlights the project’s significance for the community: “This will not only reduce our costs but also contribute to environmental protection.”

Maryna Zamfir, Director of the RePower Ukraine Charitable Foundation, notes: “This solar power station will provide the hospital with a reliable source of energy, allowing medical professionals to provide uninterrupted care to patients even in the event of power grid failures.”
The project is being implemented in close cooperation with Mena City Council, as evidenced by the signed memorandum between the local authorities and the RePower Ukraine Charitable Foundation. The main executor of the project is the RePower Ukraine Charitable Foundation.
The solar power station installation project at Mena City Hospital is an important step towards energy independence and sustainable development of the region. It serves as an example of how renewable energy sources can contribute to improving the quality of medical services and energy security of critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.
The project was led by RePower Ukraine Charitable Foundation, as part of the project “Renewables for Resilient Ukraine” implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economy and Climate Protection (BMWK).
