The Okhtyrka Central District Hospital has promptly received vital energy backup equipment from the RePower Ukraine Foundation. This humanitarian contribution made possible through the dedicated efforts of the volunteer organization SOS Malta, is poised to significantly enhance the hospital’s ability to deliver uninterrupted care to patients in the intensive care and surgical units.
Located a mere 50 km from the russian border, Okhtyrka City underwent a relentless 30-day period of intense bombings in 2022, enduring. The russian forces bombarded the city extensively on a daily basis during this time, but the city managed to defend itself and avoid occupation. This continuous attack left the city’s infrastructure severely damaged, resulting in a population of 125 thousand people without essential necessities like electricity and heating.

The relentless destruction of energy infrastructure had rendered the power supply unstable and unreliable. Amidst these challenging circumstances of volatile electricity supply, the Okhtyrka Central District Hospital is striving to maintain consistent medical services. However, the situation poses a severe risk to critical medical operations, particularly in the intensive care and surgical units.
The RePower Ukraine Charitable Foundation provided the hospital with four portable power stations, each boasting a capacity of 1075.2 W/h. This equipment is expected to bridge the gap between the hospital’s urgent need for stable power and the prevailing energy supply challenges. These power stations make sure that crucial medical equipment keeps working and that patient care isn’t disrupted.
In extending our deepest gratitude, the RePower Ukraine Foundation, as well as medical staff and patients of the Okhtyrka Central District Hospital wish to convey their sincere appreciation to the volunteer organization SOS Malta. Their unwavering commitment to humanitarian aid not only reinforces the hospital’s critical care capabilities but also highlights the profound impact of international solidarity.
