The construction of the solar PV plant for the Kharkiv Hospital has reached its final moment! The rooftop solar installation now working for doctors and patients at one of the largest hospitals in Kharkiv, City Clinical Multidisciplinary Hospital No. 17. Facilitated by the RePower Ukraine Charitable Foundation this rooftop PV plant will provide 51.8 kW of electricity for this large multidisciplinary hospital.
Performing more than 4,000 surgical operations annually, and providing medical assistance to thousands of patients, the hospital has regularly faced power outages due to persistent shelling in Ukraine’s north-eastern region.
“Each solar panel we’ve installed is a physical piece of resistance. Despite Russia’s unprovoked aggression, we will keep our operating theatre running. Patients can continue receiving care. The lights will stay on.” – Dmytro Cherepov, Director of the Hospital
Facilitated by the RePower Ukraine Charitable Foundation, the new solar installation consists of 96 solar panels. It will provide the hospital with a reliable electricity consumption of 51.8 kW at peak production, ensuring the uninterrupted provision of medical services to patients.
“The RePower Ukraine Charitable Foundation is delighted to present the successful case of cooperation with European donors to support Ukrainian resilience in the energy sphere. Our team, and every Kharkiv inhabitant who could get medical assistance even during power outages, are grateful to donor BayWa r.e. for their unwavering support.” – Yaroslava Denisova, deputy director of the Foundation.

The Kharkiv City Hospital solar project has been made possible through the ‘Solar Supports Ukraine’ fundraising campaign and the generous support from project donor BayWa r.e.
”All of us at BayWa r.e. feel the strong need to support the people of Ukraine. We do this for humanitarian reasons, which is why helping to power a hospital like the one in Kharkiv is so important. We also do this to give something back, and to show the contribution solar energy can make to a reliable, cost-efficient, and climate-friendly power supply in the rebuilding of Ukraine.” – Jochen Hauff, Director of Corporate Strategy, Energy Policy & Sustainability, BayWa r.e.AG.
