A new group of specialists has recently completed their training in “Solar Power Plant Installation” under the Solar ReStart 2025 program. This qualification is in high demand today, as solar energy is becoming a priority for communities transitioning to clean energy. Solar power plants are a path toward decentralizing the energy system and making it less vulnerable and less dependent on imported gas and coal.
Training specialists is one of the key areas of our Foundation’s work to strengthen energy resilience. At the same time, RePower Ukraine is committed to supporting veterans and internally displaced persons (IDPs). For them, retraining offers a fresh start in a new profession and a chance to contribute to the “green” transformation of their communities.
Over 5 weeks of intensive training, the future installers:
– Studied theoretical modules;
– Learned how to work with components of solar power systems;
– Met with employers and discussed job opportunities.
At the end of the training, participants visited landmark facilities:
A 2.3 MW rooftop solar power plant on a hypermarket, featuring 40 inverters and panels oriented in all directions for maximum energy production;
A 1 MW ground-mounted solar power plant operating under the “green” tariff — a profitable solution for businesses.
Graduates also gained hands-on installation experience: from calculating distances between mounts to installing panels on sloped rooftops. All participants passed the final exam and will soon receive their certificates.
“The light is in your hands. And this light is very much needed in Ukraine,” emphasized Svitlana Vovchenko, Director of the Foundation.
19 new professionals are ready to help rebuild infrastructure, work in communities, and support sustainable development. By the end of June, there will be a joint graduation with another group specializing in “Solar Power Plant Design” — adding 10 more experts to advance Ukraine’s energy independence.
Solar ReStart 2025 is a free educational program for veterans and IDPs with technical education or relevant work experience.
