The territory of Ukraine has a high potential for solar electricity production, and the state plans to develop the industry: by 2030, people and businesses should consume 27% of the energy produced by renewable sources, including solar power plants, and by 2050 — at least 90%. But there is already a lack of people to implement this.
Task:
To inspire more people to work in the solar energy industry, in particular as solar power plant installers, the Repower Ukraine Foundation joined the training “Technologies and Prospects for the Solar Energy Market”, which is held at the State Educational Institution “Regional Center for Professional Education of Innovative Technologies of Construction and Industry”. Our part of the training is called “Solar Power Plant Installer: Technologies and Prospects of the Solar Energy Market”.
Knowledge inspires trust, and practice reduces fear of the unknown. Therefore, we will talk about the prospects of the industry and interesting things specifically for solar power plant installers. The lectures will be on the following topics:
- The state of the solar energy market and development prospects;
- Calculation of the economic efficiency of solar power plants;
- Future market and technologies in solar power plants;
- For practical exercises, participants will calculate the payback of solar power plants.
Result we expect:
We expect that after completing the training, the students will be able to understand for themselves:
- they are interested in this industry in general;
- how installers influence innovations in the industry;
- what are the prospects for the development of the solar energy market;
- will be able to independently assess the economic feasibility of solar power plants
The most desirable result is that those who attended the training will be employed as solar power plant installers. This profession meets the modern requirements of Ukraine: it provides people with an alternative source of energy, cares about the environment and the development of innovations.
This project is implemented by the Regional Center for Vocational Education of Innovative Technologies in Construction and Industry and the repower Ukraine Foundation with the support of Switzerland through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) within the framework of the Economic Resilience Program for Ukraine (ERP). The program is implemented by the ERP consortium, which includes Mercy Corps, Right to Protection, Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation and JERU (Joint Emergency Response Ukraine of Welthungerhilfe and Concern Worldwide).
